24th-28th December at Kuala Lumpur and Johor

Hello everybody!! Last few days, I had a wonderful trip to Kuala Lumpur and Johor with Shafa and her family.. It took 4 hours to arrived at Kuala Lumpur from Pulau Pinang.. Kuala Lumpur is the largest city and the capital of Malaysia.. The Great Kuala Lumpur is also known as Klang Valley.. You can find more about it in the net..

The picture next to us is the Petronas Twin Towers are twin towers and is the world's tallest tower before being surpassed by Taipei 101. However, the towers are still the tallest twin buildings in the world.. However, too bad that I didn't have the opportunity to go inside it and find out what is inside it.. I would love to walk in the skybridge.. It is the bridge which connect both the tower..

Then, we went to Johor, another state located at the southern of Peninsular Malaysia.. Johor is surrounded by Straits of Johor to the south which separates Johor and the Republic of Singapore.. Johor is also known for its finest pineapples.. Because of lack of time and other factors, I can't explore Johor much.. We went to Kluang,Johor.. We rented a hotel there because we didn 't have a place to have a night.. Moon Hotel Palace.. It's a cozy place.

I enjoy sleeping there.. Actually, the reason we went to Johor is to attend a wedding! Shafa's last Aunt is marrying a man from Kluang, Johor.. That's why we have to go to the wedding.. Here is a picture of the married couple.

The theme colour of the wedding is green..

Holidaying at Cameron Highlands

On 21st December, I went to Cameron Highland with my Malaysian friends..They said that Cameron Highland is a famous holiday destination..

This is because the place has cooler temperature and has such a breath-taking scenery.. Well, I assure you, this place is certainly beautiful..and cooler than Penang state where I'm staying right now.. By the time I left the bus, i can feel the cold weather.. It makes me shivered.. Somebody,I don't really know her name put on her jacket on me.. Thanks.. he he..

Cameron Highlands is well known for strawberries , fresh vegetables, rose valley, cactus valley and tea plantation.. I'm so sorry that i cant really tak many pictures of me there..since i have low batteries..and many other excuses..sorry..sorry..sorry..

English Club’s End of Year Party.

It seems that this is the final week of school for 2009. I started my Monday, joining the English Club party at about 2.00pm.

What else can I say, more food!! I think by the time I get home to Taiwan, I’ll be gaining extra kilos in weight. There were delicious food (spaghetti, barbequed chicken known as ‘satay’with spicy peanut gravy, chicken curry with bread, two big chocolate cakes, cheese tarts and the list went on).

I had a great time. And the crowd (the teachers and students) were really friendly and hungry too :). We had a great lunch.

Spring Cleaning at the Girls’ Hostel.

I got to spend my weekend (14th and 15th Nov 2009) at Girls’ Hostel in school. Here in Malaysia, spring cleaning is known as ‘gotong-royong’. It is a physical activity (quite fun but tiring) and a ritual practice among the students who stay in the hostel in order to practice good hygiene.

According to Sarah, the students practice ‘gotong-royong’ in order to make sure that the hostel will always be clean and to maintain the status of a ‘5 star’ hostel.

Sarah and her dorm mates started working early in the morning cleaning their dorms and the surrounding areas. I helped them out too (posing for the camera, most of the time)

Although it was tiring but it was satisfying when we could see that the areas we cleaned was finally neat and tidy.

Check out my photos!!

Cooperative Club’s Party

On November 12th 2009, I attended a party held at the Mara Technology University.

Before I continue, let me explain what the school cooperative means. It means a business (something like a little shop opened in school) owned and controlled equally by the people (in school) who use its services or who work at it.

Shafiq and Shaik brought me along that afternoon. There were variety of food such as spaghetti, steamed rice, coleslaw, bread and butter pudding, cakes, fruits and mushroom soup to name a few.

I really love the bread and butter pudding because it was really creamy and delicious. Shafiq and Shaik let me try all the food until I thought my tummy was going to burst.

There was also a lucky draw and attendees got many prizes. A friend called Firdius tried to play prank on me with a knife!! Luckily, Shaik and Shafiq came to the rescue (Phew!).

After that, another guy named Hafiz Mubarak performed a magic show. That show amazed me. I enjoyed the event very much.

My turn at Nad's place

Today, I have to go to Nad’s house and I’m really happy because everyone in her family likes me especially her young little brother. His name is Umran.

That’s me and Nad.

Nad, Umran and me.
Umran sharing his candy.

Nad has shown me everything that she likes the most, like Tsubasa Cronicles, her fish and also love story comics (Oops…she is a very sensitive girl). Sometimes I can see her tears when she read the love story comic but I am shocked when she said that she loves horror movies and she can watch the horror movie until 2.00 am. I thought sensitive girl does not like scary movie but…she does.

Umran is very kind when he shares his candies with me. Even though he is naughty but he has a kind heart like Nad.

Oops…I almost forgot, Umran’s birthday is on 16 November 2009 and Nad has a big exam on 18 November until 8 December. She told me to pray for all SPM students so that they will do well in the exam.

Nad showing me her pet fish.

When Nad told me about her SPM exam, I don’t have a clue about what it is. So I googled it and let me quote from Wikipedia.

“The Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM), or the Malaysian Certificate of Education, is a national examination taken by all fifth form students in Malaysia. The SPM is equivalent to the British GCSE, and provides the opportunity for Malaysians to continue their studies to pre-university level. The examination for SPM usually takes place around early November and lasts for more than 3 weeks.”

Whoa. That is a very important exam for all 5 Ibnu Sina students. Good luck to all of you...

I will miss you Nad…

At Mustaqim's

I arrived in Kulim, Kedah - a neighboring state to Penang - at 12.30pm into the home of Mustaqim's, the class monitor of 5 Ibnu Sina. There are 5 members in his family - his parents, himself, a younger sister and a younger brother. All of them welcomed me with bright smiles on their faces.

Mustaqim took me to a place where he usually hang out during the weekends. The place is Kulim Golf Club. Before we went there, his sister, Aida, let me wear another set of clothes fit for the occasion. At the club, Mustaqim took me for a swim and then we played snooker. He was not a bad player.

[That's me at the clubhouse]

At his home, we did some interesting activities as well like playing computer games, reading comics and novels and I also got to enjoy listening to Mustaqim playing guitar.

One day, Hazziq (Mustaqim's younger brother) gave me a treat of two packs of 'nasi lemak' (rice cooked in coconut milk) at a famous 'nasi lemak' restaurant in Kulim Town. The rice was really spicy.. I had to drink a jug of water after that!

After spending 2 weeks and a half at Mustaqim's place, I have gone through quite a few interesting experiences. I was introduced to Hazziq's fluffy pet rabbit named Aura. We became good friends right away.
[That's me and Aura. Who is cuter?]

When it was time for my turn to spend time with his other classmates, on the last day of my staying there, Mustaqim played a sad song on his guitar. Then he gave me a bear hug and patted my head.
Quite a touching farewell though.

[That's me watching Mustaqim playing his guitar]

Well, I'm off to my other visits then....

A Day with Nabil

Hmm... I met Nabil at school. My first impression of him was that I thought he was a shy boy. Later, I understood why Nabil was feeling bashful and sheepish at day. As he carried me around in school, the students were teasing him saying that I was a present given to him from a secret admirer (ahem!). This time it is my turn to stay with Nabil.

When I arrived at his home, the first thing he did was to climb on his bed and he took a long afternoon nap. I figured probably he was tired after a long day at school.

Then when we woke up, he sat infront of his computer and made me watch him play Jin Online ... boring. But later I think he sensed my feelings (of being ignored), so he asked me to jopin him play. he taught me how to play the game. It was COOOL!! I wasn't bored anymore that day.

That night, he introduced me to his family members. He has a big family. 2 sisters and 2 brothers plus his mum and dad. His younger brother, Danish, loves to play with me. Such a cute boy, he is. He treats me nicely.

[That's me, Nabil and Danish]

Later that night, Nabil cooked 'nasi lemak' (rice cooked with coconut milk) for us..YUMMY but spicy. Not a bad cook for a boy his age. Nabil promised to teach me how to cook 'nasi lemak'.

[Me and Danish watching Nabil making the spicy gravy to eat with the 'nasi lemak']

We surfed the internet together. Since it was a weekend night, Nabil and I stayed up until 3am. I was really sleepy by that time.
And being a nice boy Danish is, he let me sleep in his room. But before I could snuggle in, Danish and I posed for the camera.

Memories at Shafawati's Home

Today,Shafawati brought me home..She is kind enough to me..hehe..she hugged me..and said that I am a cute guy..haha..that makes me happy..I met her family..I don't like her brother..he always punch me at my stomach..huahua..damn it..i didnt do anything at her house..just sat there..on Shafa's bed.. listening to the music..from her radio..Shafa really loves musics.. She knows plenty of songs.. if I was lucky, she'll take me to dance with her.. I can tell you that she isn't a good dancer..haha..

Co-curriculum Day 2009

It was Co-Curriculum day on July 10th 2009. It was a really grand day. This was my first experience witnessing such an event. It was held in the school compound on a school day but there was no lesson carried out.

Every students attended school in their co-curricular unit's uniforms. In SMK Mengkuang, there are 6 uniform units or teams; the Red-Crescent, the Scout, the KRS ('Kadet Remaja Sekolah' or if translated, I guess it is called the Youth's School Cadet), the Girl Guides, the Fire-Fighter Cadet and the 'Puteri Islam' (mmm.. not sure how to translate this).

This is an annual event. This is the time when all the units took part in various mentally and physically challenging activities and competed to score the highest point. And of course the ones with the highest points will be the winner.

Some of the activities and competitions (if I could still recall) were the March Pass, Survival race, Gadget making, Handicrafting and Cooking competition. There were also Taekwondo and Malay Martial Arts (called Silat) demonstration that made us all watched in awe.

Had a nice cool drink.

It was hot and humid but still, there were also yummy food and drinks sold. I totally enjoyed myself. I got to meet many new friends other than the 5 Ibnu Sina students. The students here were really nice and hospitable. They made me feel like I'm part of the students here in SMK Mengkuang.

Eventhough they are randomly arranged, I hope you enjoy looking at some of the many photos taken during the events.
